Selection and method

This initial selection covers the six largest country-level requirements at the launch of OCHA’s Global Humanitarian Overview 2026: the occupied Palestinian territory, Syria, Sudan, Yemen, Ukraine and Afghanistan. Regional refugee plans are excluded from the comparison to avoid mixing geographic scopes. Appeal size is a transparent starting point for coverage, not a ranking of human suffering, current funding received or all unmet need. Later revisions do not automatically change this initial selection. OCHA: Global Humanitarian Overview 2026: At a glance ↗

Sector tables rank the requirements in a named response-plan edition. Where published, the narrower prioritised request is shown alongside the full request. These are funding needs, not receipts or a universal ranking of donor awards. Donor comparisons use each institution’s own documents.
