What this call funds

The project seeks to empower children and adolescents to exercise their rights through a socioecological approach strengthening families, communities, institutions and support networks across approximately 15 municipalities in Escuintla, Alta Verapaz and Guatemala, with an estimated five municipalities per department.

Expected results span three specific objectives covering life-skills empowerment of in-school and out-of-school children, promotion of protective environments with families and community actors, and strengthening of community and institutional protection networks including access to health, education and protection services.

Who this suits

Applying organisations may apply to one or more of the defined products and set their own targets in the concept note.

Selection criteria reward demonstrated experience designing and implementing programmes on empowerment, wellbeing and healthy relationships for children and adolescents, with a rights, inclusion and cultural-relevance focus, and particular value placed on sexual violence prevention, adolescent pregnancy prevention, soft-skills strengthening, teacher and family capacity-building, community work and articulation with public institutions.

What selection favours

Assessment weights are 25 for clarity of activities and expected results, 25 for sector expertise and experience, 15 for sustainability of intervention, 10 for experience working with the UN system, and 25 for cost effectiveness.

Sustainability is assessed on whether intervention strategies are sustainable in the prioritised geographic areas, carrying a 15-point weight.

Prior UN-system experience carries a standalone 10-point criterion.

The delivery commitment

Implementation indicators include the number of children and adolescents completing structured formative processes of four sessions, the percentage demonstrating increased knowledge and favourable attitudes, the number of communicational products produced by participants, estimated potential exposures to messages via community radio and digital platforms, the number of adults participating in sensitisation and dialogue processes, and the number of local actors and professionals completing training of at least four hours.

The project runs from January 1 to December 31, 2027, a single-year implementation window.
